The Benefits of Pineapple

Fibro Daily October 8, 2012

Besides being deliciously refreshing, pineapple offers so much goodness for your body! It is definitely an item to add to your diet on a regular basis.

First, pineapple offers a large amount of vitamin A and beta-carotene to help prevent lung and oral cancers, which is great news for everyone.

The vitamin B1, or Thiamine, in pineapple helps convert carbohydrates into energy. It helps regulate muscle function and the nervous system which sometimes weakens in fibromyalgia patients.

Pineapple also consists of the main enzyme, Bromelain. Bromelain helps maintain the health in many ways, but for fibromyalgia patients, the important thing is it helps regulate the digestion problems from which so many of them suffer.

Manganese is something we don’t produce without help, so making sure to get it will help heal wounds and keep skin healthy. It also helps in bone formation and boosts the immune system. Pineapple contains a good amount of manganese and therefore will help fibromyalgia patients with a variety of common concerns, such as weak immune systems.

And finally , the phosphorous in pineapple helps build strong bones and tissue.

So, pass the pineapple!
