Women make up about ninety percent of the fibromyalgia cases, but men do have it. Many of them remain unknown due to a lack of studies about the condition in men, as well as doctors overlooking them.
The studies about male hormones are especially lacking. However, it is known that testosterone probably helps prevent muscle fatigue, which may account for the low numbers in men.
Some doctors never think to diagnose a man with fibromyalgia, because they think that men don’t get it.
