According to The National Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Association (NCFSFA), a Chronic Disease Self-Management Program occurs once a week in churches, libraries, hospitals, and senior centers across the United States.
This workshop is always lead by two trained leaders, though they are not health professionals. At least one must suffer from a chronic disease. The workshops last two and a half hours, combining people with different types of chronic disease into one group. Each participant receives a book titled Living a Healthy Life With Chronic Conditions, 3rd Edition, plus an audio relaxation tape, Time for Healing. The Surgeon General’s office endorses the program.
