Depressed Mothers More Likely to Have Overweight Children

In a study that examined the 401 low-income mothers and their 5-year-old children in New York City, they found that the mothers with moderate to severe symptoms of depression were more likely to have children that were obese or overweight. It is unsure whether the results of the study extend to mothers of other income brackets, but researches claim that depression can affect parenting practices, leading to less active engagement.
