Female Sexual Dysfunction Linked to Fibromyalgia

Women with fibromyalgia suffer high rates of sexual dysfunction according to researchers. In women who have fibromyalgia, sexual dysfunction occurs in the following ways:

  • Decreased arousal
  • Decreased sexual desire
  • Less and/or weaker orgasms
  • Sometimes, there is an increase in genital pain

Fatigue proves to be devastating to sexual desire, as does stress and some of the fibromyalgia treatments, like the use of certain medications. It is important for doctors to consider sexual dysfunction when making treatment decisions.
