Fibromyalgia is Dysfunctional Pain

Nancy Walsh of MedPage Today, was in Berlin for the Annual European Congress of Rheumatology. While there, she spoke to Professor Serge Perrot about fibromyalgia, including how it is misunderstood and neglected. Professor Perrot classifies fibromyalgia as a syndrome of dysfunctional pain.

In this interview, Professor Perrot also talks about the 1990 criteria for a fibromyalgia diagnosis and how those diagnosis standards have changed, as well as the doctor-fibromyalgia patient-relationship. He provides great insight into the condition, and strives for progress in fibromyalgia treatments.
