A new study on primates shows that while calorie restriction boosts immunity and overall general health, it doesn’t lengthen life.
This goes against much of the popular advice that many researchers have recommended for about 70 years.
However, staff scientist at the Laboratory of Experimental Gerontology at the U.S. National Institute on Aging (NIA) in Dickerson, Md., and lead author of the study Julie Mattison points out that the the study does not reveal that calorie restriction fails. It just works differently than previously believed.
