More Sleep Equals More Alertness and Preparedness for Surgery; Less Pain

A new sleep study says that adequate sleep reduces pain sensitivity and also helps prepare a patient for elective surgery. The study appears in the December issue of the journal SLEEP.

In the study, 1.8 hours more per night of sleep corresponded to more daytime alertness as well.
