Scientists just announced that they now know how the human genome works. This is the biggest breakthrough since unraveling the human genome.

Three billion letters of code exist in each genome. The code contains a person’s complete genetic profile. Before, scientists thought of most of that DNA as junk because it seemed not to do anything.

But now scientists know that DNA plays a vital role in telling genes what to do, and acting like “switches”.
