No link found between weather and fibromyalgia symptoms

Though individual patients may experience some sensitivity to weather, Dutch researchers report that temperature, sunshine, and precipitation have no impact on the fibromyalgia symptoms of female patients. Of patients with fibromyalgia, 92% report that weather exacerbates their symptoms, but the study found no association between specific fibromyalgia patient characteristics and weather sensitivity.

In the study, 333 female patients completed questionnaires regarding their pain and fatigue over 28 days, and the researchers received their data regarding the weather during this time from the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute.
