A British study says that performing assessments of musculoskeletal problem patients over the phone resulted in the patients getting into physical therapy quicker with outcomes equal to an office visit. The assessments proved safe and referred patients to urgent care if needed. However, patients report less satisfaction with this arrangement.
Many fibromyalgia patients complain that the medical community ignores their needs, even going as fas to deny the disease exists. So it would be interesting to see how doing a physical therapy phone assessment would work with a targeted group of fibromyalgia patients.
