Telomeres in Fibromyalgia

According to new research, a biological marker specifying premature aging may be connected to fibromyalgia pain.

The length of telomeres —specialized structures at the end of chromosomes—shorten over time, indicating the aging process. The researchers examined the telomeres of fibromyalgia patients and came up with some interesting insights. For one, fibromyalgia patients have slightly shorter telomeres, and that is related to higher levels of pain.
