Women show stronger emotional reactions to negative news. They also remember the news better than men, according to experts led by Sonia Lupien from the University of Montreal, Canada. These experts gave psychological stress tests and measured salivary levels of cortisol (a stress hormone) to determine the results. During these tests, women experienced higher rates of stress than men after receiving the news.
Previously done research shows that both men and women experience an increase in chronic pain when looking at negative news headlines.
