Bowel issues can be an embarrassing part of dealing with fibromyalgia.
Much of the bowel trouble stems from the following, which often affects fibromyalgia patients:
- Age-related (or not) changes in muscle and tissue.
- A weak pelvic floor.
- Damaged or weak sphincter muscles.
Certain medications, stress, and lack of a sex life can affect some of the above conditions. But bowel issues are not something that must be tolerated on a regular basis.
Kegel exercises and a blander diet can help prevent and improve some of these issues. Talking with your doctor is the first step in the right direction.
