ME/CFS: Autoimmunity to Serotonin

According to a new chronic fatigue syndrome study, an autoimmune reaction to neurotransmitter serotonin destroys serotonin-sensitive cells in the brain. The study also reveals high levels of bacteria moving through the intestinal membrane in ME/CFS. The high level of intestinal bacteria that researchers discovered is a known contributor to autoimmunity.
