It’s funny…meditation and yoga are supposed to increase patience and self-awareness, but people who try them out often lack enough patience and self-awareness to even give the practices enough time. They expect an instant fixes, so quit without improving either.
Instant fixes work in very few cases. Glue would be one instant fix that works as promised. A safety pin, another. A paper towel cleans up things pretty quickly.
But as you can obviously see, none of these are designed to help treat fibromyalgia.
Meditation and yoga are considered by some to be “out there”, so too difficult to comprehend and do, but if you feel that way, look at it like this: There are lots of people who consider fibromyalgia as being only in the head. Do you want to treat two treatment options with that same disdain?
Meditation and/or yoga may not work for you. Or maybe only one does. Fine. The point is, you have to give them time. You have to learn to feel comfortable and allow the practices to flow naturally. Learn to work within the discomfort and doubt.
Don’t expect instant fixes. You may miss out on lasting help.
