Holiday Workout Routine

It’s that time of year where life gets very fun, but hectic. For those with fibromyalgia, that means more chances of a fibro flare and/or fibro fog. It’s not that fibromyalgia patients don’t want to have fun, too, but sometimes the holidays just overwhelm. Even worse, it’s hard to stick to a healthy routine.

But one healthy thing that will help during the holidays is to keep exercising. And if you don’t already exercise, now is a good time to start.

Why?

Because exercise is an excellent way to reduce stress. It helps to lessen exhaustion. It also helps burn off any excess holiday treats, plus builds confidence for the many parties that this season brings. You will instantly feel more confidant and energized when you make an entrance at a party if you take the time to workout regularly.

Thirty minutes of brisk walking is a good way to raise your heart rate. You can add in some free weights when ready. Or look around your community for a yoga or Pilates class that would be good for fibro patients. Swimming is also another wonderful fibro-friendly exercise option. Aim for three to four sessions a week, and build up slowly.

And don’t forget to ask Santa for some workout clothes!
