Fibromyalgia Awareness Day 2013 will be on May 12.
How do you plan to make others aware about fibromyalgia?
Whatever it is, start planning now to build up word of mouth advertising. Facebook invites and updates can help with that, as can tweeting. Here are some suggestions for the day:
- Consider throwing a tea party with gluten-free pastries. Offer fibromyalgia pamphlets or set up a way to watch videos about fibromyalgia. A church, gym, hospital, or school would be a great place to hold such an event.
Ask your local gym, yoga center, or community center if they might consider holding a fibromyalgia yoga class on May 12. Find yoga teachers that would be willing to teach a class geared toward fibro patients. Before the class, give a short intro to fibromyalgia.
- Ask for help from women’s groups, but don’t leave out the men: It is true that most fibro patients are women, so asking for women’s health groups to get involved in teaching a class on or holding a meeting about fibromyalgia makes sense. Just don’t forget about the men.
