Support Your Back While Sitting

Sitting correctly helps keep the core strong plus prevents Fibromyalgia pain as well as additional pain beyond Fibromyalgia, such as pain caused by how one sits while working a demanding desk job.

Practice these American Council on Exercise tips for sitting correctly to help reduce back pain and maintain flexibility:

  • Sit on a small pillow or a rolled towel. This will provide extra lower back support.
  • Do not lean, but if you must, do so from the hips. Keep your chin level.
  • Use a chair that provides adequate back support.
  • If able, buy a swivel chair to help with turning to avoid putting a strain on your body. And make sure it comes with arm rests, a back rest, and an adjustable seat.
