Now that Christmas is over and all the gifts unpacked, you may be stuck with something you don’t want. Not something that is too big or too small to wear, but something so bone-shatteringly ugly it instantly causes a fibro-flare when your eyes gaze upon it. Or else, it is so boring–a book, a for instance—you long for a fibro-flare.
If that’s the case, don’t let the stress of the situation cause fibromyalgia stress. Of course you can get rid of the offensive item—or at the very least, severely limit its impact on your life.
Take a good long look at the reality of the situation. If the gift-giver lives nearby, you may be forced to wear a bad clothing gift once or twice when the two of you meet up, for a limited amount of time. (Make sure there are no cameras nearby!) If the gift consists of a book, say you’ve already read it. If it involves a painting, place it in an out-of-the-way room or hang it up where another painting normally hangs when the gifter comes over.
There’s lots of mindful innovation that can save you the stress of fibro-flares.
