The Stress of Natural Disasters

Fibro Daily May 30, 2013

Lately, it seems the world has been inundated with natural disasters like earthquakes, fires, and tornadoes that maim or destroy everything in their path. This week, a large portion of the United States is under severe storm warnings.

The stress of these possible disasters overwhelm. If you suffer from a chronic illness like Fibromyalgia, the stress can be even more overwhelming, resulting in increased brain fog, anxiety, and pain. The stress shows up in your body quicker than in the bodies of others.

As stressful as it is, it’s something all humans on this earth must learn to deal with and short of keeping a bag of emergency supplies handy or a cellar stocked, there’s not much to do but prepare to the best of your ability, wait for the warnings to come, and then react.

Therefore, try no to stress too much. Donate money to those in need via a reputable organization such as the Red Cross, and do your best to cope by planning effective safety strategies.
