Mammograms can be unpleasent for any woman. But for women that suffer from fibromyalgia and other types of chronic pain, this lifesaving test might feel like a real killer. lossless-page1-280px-mammogram_being_conducted-tiff

Still, pain is not a reason to skip this test! My description, “lifesaving test” clarifies that. You MUST get a mammogram if you fit the criteria. That means even if you suffer the worst case of chronic pain ever, you must go for the test. We’re talking about a necessary prevention measure that saves lives. And sometimes, men may need to be screened. Find out why here.

If you find the test painful, certain steps help lessen the pain. These tips come from author Donna Gregory Burch, a firbomyalgia patient who wrote this piece in October for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Obviously, it’s November now, but I just read the piece so am posting it now.
