Alternative treatments such as acupuncture, cranberries, and Vitamin C may help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Suzanne Geerlings, MD, of the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, say there is evidence these treatments do help, though they are not as effective as antibiotics. However, they also do not add to growing antibiotic resistance, she said.
Other experts disagree, and say such studies often contain conflicting evidence.
