Foot stretches not only ease pain and tension in your feet, but they help ease pain and tension all over. Stretching the feet also helps prevent injury. Try these foot stretches on a daily basis to improve the strength and capability of your feet:
- Towel Stretch: Sit on the floor with your legs extended straight out in front of you. Place a towel around your toes, and gently pull the towel toward you. For a little different angel, place the towel on the bottom of your feet and pull gently toward you. Lean your upper body into the stretch to go deeper. You will feel this alteration stretch through the bottom of the feet and even the legs (mostly the back of the legs.) You can also do both these versions in a chair. Just place the towel on the floor.
- Sit in a chair and place your feet flat on the floor. Spread your toes, hold, then release. Repeat ten times, though you may have to build up to the repetitions.
- Sit down and place a golf ball, a squeeze ball, or a juice can under one foot. Roll it back and forth from your toes to your heel, doing one continuous roll as well as stopping to hit the tender spots as needed. Just alternate the movements. Switch feet.
All of these feel amazing and help keep your feet fit!
