New Fibromyalgia Treatments

Many new treatments are available for patients with fibromyalgia, such as Xyrem, which decreases pain in fibromyalgia patients by 30-55 percent and only takes days to begin working, Gabapentin, a medication for peripheral nerve pain, and a device called the “Thermal Exchange Method.” The Thermal Exchange Method, a non-invasive device that is applied twice daily for fifteen minutes over four weeks, works by manipulates AV shunts and has been shown to significantly reduce tender point counts and fibromyalgia discomfort. It is currently pending for FDA approval.
