Study: New RA Biologic Meds Don’t Cause Cancer

Biologics do not raise the risk of cancer, according to a new review by researchers at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The review appears in the Sept. 5 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Biologics treat rheumatoid arthritis, and have been the subject of cancer concerns for years.

The biologic drugs are:

  • abatacept (Orencia)
  • adalimumab (Humira)
  • anakinra (Kineret)
  • certolizumab (Cimzia)
  • etanercept (Enbrel)
  • golimumab (Simponi)
  • infliximab (Remicade)
  • rituximab (Rituxan)
  • tocilizumab (Actemra)
