UCLA to House Worldwide Chronic-Pain Database.

Fourteen institutions in North America and Europe are working together to create the first ever standardized database for brain imaging associated with chronic pain. Housed in UCLA and intended to accelerate research and the development of treatment, the database will grant researches access to over 1000 brain scans of patients with migraines, irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and other diseases involving chronic pain. Currently, many institutions lack access to small samples of patients, and can only fund small studies of their own.
