Cognitive behavioral therapy video-game effective treatment for depression

Fibro Daily June 30, 2013

For adolescents with mild or moderate depression, “Sparx,” a 3-D fantasy video-game, has proven to be a more effective treatment than face-to-face therapy in a randomized clinical trail. By applying the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy, Sparx achieved an impressive 44 percent remission rate in participants, compared to therapy’s remission rate of 26 percent.

After it’s release in a couple of months, the game will be available to play via Web browser, for a monthly subscription fee.
