We stumbled across a Facebook page called Athletes With Fibromyalgia. It is operated by Peg Mitchel, who according to the page:
“…is a former professionally trained ballet dancer whose career ended abruptly as a result of an undiagnosed broken bone in her foot. Following ACL reconstruction 6 years later, sickness became prevalent in Peg’s life. After a diagnoses of CFS and Fibro in 1996 and several rocky years, Peg took up road cycling and there the transformation began. Despite continuing health challenges, Peg was a USCF Cat 4 road racer for 4 years and believes exercise is the key to success for fibromites. Peg also has a degree in Exercise Science from UMass, Amherst and certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics as a Certified Pedorthist (and is looking for work). In her free time she enjoys playing with her two canine children; researching health-related topics; mountain and road biking; yoga, cooking, and baking.”
We’d like to pass along this page as another resource for connecting, educating, and sharing among those who are attempting dancing, athletics, and sports in the Fibro community.
