Beauty Products for Fibromyalgia

Fibro Daily December 6, 2012

Fibromyalgia patients often experience negative reactions to beauty products because of fragrances and/ or ingredients that prove too overwhelming to their systems. The result: Dry skin, headaches, nausea, rashes, and a general overall ill feeling.

But few fibromyalgia women want to totally give up their beauty routines and make-up. Therefore, instead of giving up what makes them feel beautiful, they need to seek out new products that do just that, in a way that works better for them. Salicylate free products are a great place to start that search.

Despite their inclusion in multiple pain products, many fibromyalgia patients report adverse reactions to salicylic-acid. Salicylic acid also appears in a variety of beauty products and personal care items like toothpaste. It is a natural chemical that protects against bacteria, fungus and more in plants. Most people tolerate it well. But manufacturers of all these products are picking up on the fact that a large portion of the population can’t consume salicylic-acid because of health problems like fibromyalgia. Even people without health concerns fear getting sick from questionable ingredients, so are looking for alternatives.

One manufacturer of salicylate free products is Cleure. Check My Sensitive Skincare for more info.
