From Women’s Health: “Well this is bad news: More than half of Americans are not getting the recommended sexual healthcare services—including HPV vaccinations, chlamydia screening, and HIV testing, according to new reports by the National Coalition for Sexual Health (NCSH).”
Though this article focuses on the general American female population, we know it’s beyond relevant to the Fibromyalgia community as a whole. Fibromyalgia makes it hard to focus on other health concerns, like your sexual health. That’s dangerous.
Sexual health isn’t just about pleasure, though as a consenting adult you do have the right to that with other consenting adults. (The Fibromyalgia community forgets that sometimes because it’s just so hard to think about all that when you can’t even get a good night’s sleep!) But sexual health also includes being screened for sexual diseases in addition to other diseases, like cancer.
Sexual health matters to your overall health.
